The basic idea that lead to econ:ffm One of the most prosperous regions in both Germany and Europe, Rhein-Main area offers a wide range of scientific education of young people and young professionals. Here, an outstanding labor market can be found. So there seem to be unlimited possibilities concerning to the use of acquired knowledge. At econ:ffm, we are dedicated to creating a network between theory and practice young professionals and businesses of the region will benefit from.
A decisive factor for the graduates’ future careers is the ability to transfer acquired knowledge into practice. Obviously, an early confrontation with the future place of work is a key advantage for a student’s career. econ:ffm’s major intention is to ease contacts between students and companies.
econ:ffm’s concept econ:ffm - university and economy in touch - is a student initiative. Established by Theo Poursanidis and Jens Oehlmann in March 1997, econ:ffm provides reasonable opportunities to students of Frankfurt’s university of applied sciences. For example, excursions into the world of work allow them to get a deeper insight in business related facts, to get more experienced and to learn know important decision makers.
Curious about the name “econ:ffm”? It’s as simple as follows: econ is the blending of the two terms economy and external contacts; ffm is a widely known abbreviation for Frankfurt/Main. econ:ffm is a symbol for the aim to come together with businesses and business institutions of the entire area to exchange both theoretical and practical experiences.
econ:ffm focuses on business presentations, case studies, excursions and other activities related to econ:ffm’s intentions. Also, we provide excursions to even global companies like Gillette or Merck that result in additional knowledge. Therefore, we are in direct and permanent contact with companies from across the prosperous Rhein-Main region.
Beyond those activities, econ:ffm is committed to bringing together lecturers and students. Constant communication is essential for a better understanding of each other and is a key for developing scientific findings.
In sum, students are not the only one who benefit from econ:ffm’s initiatives and activities. Companies may learn know active and innovative students providing know-how and fresh ideas. Both students and companies will get the chance to get into touch and to be partners of tomorrow.

econ:ffm’s structure econ:ffm consists of students who wish to do more than attending school. econ:ffm guys are dedicated to playing an active role for other students, as well as for businesses.
econ:ffm members work in project groups we use to call project teams. Among those teams, the coordination team and the PR team are playing key roles. Both teams exist permanently, while other teams will be created and dissolved when appropriate. While the coordination team covers the management of econ:ffm, the PR team represents our initiative through providing publications and information. Our members meet regularly to talk about the latest developments and to make decisions.
